Velonetic™ Hub at Lloyd’s of London Building

Situated on the fourth floor of the Grade 1 listed Lloyd’s Building, Velonetic™ commands attention in an iconic and historically rich location.

Renowned for its distinctive architecture, the Lloyd’s Building provides a unique setting for this visionary hub. The challenge was to seamlessly merge modern design with the historical backdrop, crafting an environment that mirrors Velonetic’s cutting-edge approach to the insurance industry.

Under the leadership of Basha Franklin, the team adeptly converted 8,000 square feet into a state-of-the-art, interactive workspace and exhibition. The primary objective was to cultivate a distinctive and welcoming experience, captivating and involving visitors with collaboration at its core. Purposefully departing from the corporate aesthetic of the Lloyd’s Building, the redesigned space establishes a harmonious contrast, reflecting Velonetic’s commitment to trailblazing in the industry through a fusion of modernity and tradition.

A standout feature is ‘The Grid,’ a remarkable brutalist and industrial coffer ceiling measuring 1800mm square. This iconic design not only captures attention but also serves as a wellspring of inspiration, echoing the geometric aesthetic prevalent throughout the entire space. ‘The Grid’ symbolizes Velonetic’s dedication to pushing boundaries and embracing innovation.

Collaborating closely with Basha Franklin, our task was to specify a creative mesh solution for the wall panels and room dividers surrounding ‘The Grid.’ Consequently, Milan WM2525 in the AW400, a decorative welded wire mesh, was selected.

The AW400 Series, an angle-framed metal panel system mechanically fixed to angle support brackets, empowers designers to incorporate bespoke metal mesh and profile designs with a diverse palette of finishes and textures. Typically crafted from aluminium, steel, or yellow metals, this series accommodates infill panels that are either welded into angle frames or, if perforated, can be folded for a seamless appearance. We tailor the manufacturing to suit the application, considering the materials or finishes required. These internal panels can be featured in large-scale wall installations or smaller-scale bar and reception faces, with the option to integrate lighting for enhanced aesthetics.
