Albans Well Pub, St. Albans

This magnificent structure, located in the heart of St. Albans, is rich in both architecture and history.

Built on the old British Home Stores site, the designers wanted to transform this site from an uninspiring space to one that is warm, welcoming, and a place for people to chat and enjoy good food. With that in mind, the designers incorporated the building’s heritage into the design and included aspects of local history and architecture, with a focus on the cathedral and a local artist’s artwork.

The design featured a shadowed painting that mimicked the style of local artist Edward Robert Hughes. Alongside the mural, the design incorporated a moss-green wall, which represented the stunning Hertfordshire countryside that surrounds the pub. Old, reclaimed furniture was used throughout the premises to add character, along with curved timber panelling that pays homage to St. Albans Cathedral.

One of the main features of this design is the wine wall, which acts as a taster wall for guests to sample a variety of wines. Alongside this, the pub also offers an extensive list of creative cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks, and freshly pressed juices, and has a patio area for guests to relax, sit, and enjoy their food.

Working alongside interior designers and architectural specialists, Harrison, on this project, we were asked to supply a suitable decorative metal that could be used to create a feature curtain in the restaurant that could be printed on. Our Kriskadecor chains were the perfect solution for this project.

Our Kriskadecor chains were given a bright blue finish and had a cherub printed on them. Alongside this, we also supplied our Zircon 25 expanded mesh in copper, which was used for some features and dividers.
