Sancroft Building, Paternoster Square

The Sancroft Building, located in the bustling Paternoster Square in London, is a striking example of how traditional and contemporary design can be seamlessly integrated.

This 45,000-square-foot meeting and events venue is the result of a creative collaboration between the architectural firm Woods Bagot and the event space provider Convene. The project pays homage to the historical significance of its surroundings while embracing modern design principles.

The Design Process

The interior design of the Sancroft Building is characterised by a soothing white backdrop that provides a neutral canvas. This allows vibrant colours, intricate floral patterns, and rich textures to stand out, creating a space that is both visually engaging and respectful of its historical context. The design strategy aims to honour the past while incorporating elements of contemporary simplicity, resulting in a balanced and inviting atmosphere.

Incorporating Woven Mesh

We worked closely with joinery experts, the Specialist Group who specified and installed our woven mesh IPZ-56 in bronze which features on the gantry surrounding the bar area.

It was selected for its lightweight yet durable stainless steel construction, which takes full advantage of the material’s strength without compromising on aesthetic appeal.

The design of the Sancroft Building is a testament to the successful fusion of historical reverence with modern elegance. By utilising a calming white backdrop, the design allows for a flexible and adaptive environment that can cater to a variety of events and functions. The integration of vibrant colours and patterns enliven the space, creating a dynamic and welcoming environment for visitors.
