House of Reflection

Once an old and outdated 1980s house, located in the heart of Notting Hill, London, the space was converted into a stunning new build which aimed to create a unique space for the client to call home.

We had the privilege of collaborating with the renowned Yard Architects and Miles Builders to bring the client’s vision to life.

We were asked to provide a material that would grace the exterior roof lantern of the building with both elegance and longevity. A material that would not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the building but also withstand the test of time. Additionally, we were challenged to provide a material that could coexist with contemporary art pieces within the interior spaces, ensuring a smooth blend of the classic and the modern.

Working closely with Yard Architects on this award winning project, we meticulously designed, manufactured, and delivered bespoke woven mesh framed panels, using our Banker Wire IPZ-62. Combining its versatility and extended reach to envelop not only the exterior of the building but also the external balustrades surrounding the entrance area, we seamlessly blended the function and aesthetics.

Elevating the design even further, the client and architects requested a brass finish for the external woven mesh panels. This choice was made with the intention of allowing the panels to gracefully patina over time, bestowing the building with an enchanting, aged look.

We didn’t limit our efforts and offerings to the exterior alone. To maintain a cohesive design by utilising the same Banker Wire IPZ-62 woven mesh throughout the property, we had to address an internal challenge that required careful engineering and design expertise. A large single triangular balustrade stair panel, measuring 2500mm x 2500mm, was required to complete the client and architects’ vision of creating a seamless transition from outside to inside.

Simon Graham, Director at Yard Architects says, “We worked with the team at Amron to come up with detailed designs for panels which could be removable and were very finely detailed, with an almost invisible frame which we wanted. Internally the same attention to detail was used to create a shaped stainless steel mesh balustrade with hidden fixings.

He continues, “The team was always responsive, open to ideas, and produced very detailed drawings and 3D models which helped explain the proposals. The finished installation is excellent, and we are very happy with the results”.

This project won ‘House Of The Year’ at the British Home Awards 2024! Congratulations to Yard Architects and Miles Builders!
