Grange Farm, South Harrow London
The first phase of a major estate regeneration project, in collaboration with the London Borough of Harrow, aims to bring about positive change and inclusivity to South Harrow, London.
This transformative initiative focuses on delivering 100% affordable homes, adhering to Lifetime Homes standards, within a mixed tenure community.
Grange Farm’s Need for Change
The development consists of 89 affordable apartments, catering to both rental and shared ownership, addressing the pressing need for accessible housing in the community. The existing infrastructure lacked visual appeal, hindering the overall impression.
Hawkins Brown Architects, served as the Concept Architect for the entire estate regeneration project, and worked closely with Potter Raper Partnership, which represented the London Borough of Harrow, by overseeing and facilitating the successful execution of ensuring high-quality design and functionality.
We worked with Hawkins Brown who specified our WellTEC profiled sheet for the balconies surrounding the apartments.
Introducing Perforated Sheet
The decision to integrate the profiles with R5 T7 perforated sheets aimed to provide a creative solution to the challenges faced. WellTEC profiles are durable, versatile, and adaptable to diverse applications. WellTEC W-15/40 features in this project and we added a 30mm unperforated border to ensure there were no sharp edges. The modular design of the profiles allowed for easy customisation to fit the specific needs of Grange Farm.
The perforations facilitated proper ventilation and natural light. The choice of green and blue powder coating was intentional to blend with the natural surroundings, which contributed to a visually appealing environment.
The first phase of the estate regeneration project exemplifies a holistic approach, integrating affordable housing, public spaces, green initiatives, and community engagement. With a commitment to inclusivity, sustainability, and community well-being, this initiative sets the stage for a vibrant and connected South Harrow community.
