Box Works, Ebbw Vale, Wales

Cutting edge infrastructure meets design at the new office development at Box Works, Ebbw Vale.

The £7m hybrid scheme, situated on two sites, delivers offices and workspaces in the heart of Wales. The new Box Works development, a transformation of the former steelworks site, features 4,000 sq ft of workspaces for the financial, tech, and creative industries.

The project consists of two buildings that are identical in design but differ slightly in size. The aim is for the spaces to provide low running energy costs for the occupants, with the offices having solar panels and natural ventilation.

Working alongside Kier Construction, we were asked to supply a material that would be suitable as mesh for the newly designed shipping containers. They wanted a mesh that would provide natural ventilation and solar shading whilst keeping the aesthetic.

Based on the requirements, we supplied our Zircon 76 expanded mesh in galvanised steel to fit with the industrial look. Our mesh was used for the external cladding surrounding the storage containers.
