Aluminium Anodising.
Anodising is an electrochemical process, and because aluminium is porous it means that secondary colours can be introduced and then sealed. The process allows for the natural metal to come through as it is not a process that applies a finish to the surface to the aluminium like powder coating.

On the whole anodising is an extremely durable process and aluminium itself does not rust in the conventional way that steel does and being a finish that is intrinsically part of the metal, means it can withstand scratching, is UV stable and will not peel or flake all the time maintaining its metallic lustre even in areas of strong sunlight. However, it is vulnerable to acidic pollutants such as cement.
There are several factors to consider when looking to use anodising as a finish; The first being the issue of colour, although there are colours available the range is limited compared to powder coating. It must also be noted that colour consistency is never guaranteed even when using the preferred anodising grade of J57S. Aluminium is an immersive process, so the panels need to be held by clamps, usually in the corners of the panels or where they can’t be seen, but they are there none the less.
